Is a silicone-based lube Safe?
Again, depending on the quality of the silicone itself, the answer. Unfortunately, many silicone-based lubes are not of sufficient quality to be rated pharmaceutical grade. On the other hand, many high quality condoms utilize a pharmeceutiocal grade silicone lubricant. And fertility clinics will only use a silicone-based lubricant.
Is there a difference in silicone-based lubes?
Yes. Purity and molecule size are key factors in silicone-based lubes. Molecule size plays a critical role in a silicone-based product’s effectiveness without reapplication. Our product, Ultimate Personal Lubricant, was formulated with both of these elements in mind. The silicone itself is pharmaceutical grade, and the molecule itself is of adequate size to NOT be absorbed into the skin or mucous membrane, thereby lastingt much longer than comparable products on the market.
I’ve been told that water-based lubes are the only safe lubes; what’s the truth?
Nothing could be farther from the truth. Water-based lubes are a poor choice over silicone-based lubes; just look what’s in water-based products:
- Cellulose – Used as a thickener to make water into a lotion. Cellulose itself is a main ingredient in many home insulation – it crystallizes as it dries; NASTY!
- Glycerin – Used in making soap. While it does make things slippery, it tends to gum up quickly, is often associated with yeast infections, especially in high Ph soaps and related products.
- Polypropylene – Antifreeze. Uh huh.
- Paraben – A preservative often made from alcohol and sulfuric acid.
My body produces what I feel is enough lubrication. What would be the benefit for me?
First of all, if that is the case, count yourself fortunate…many people do not produce enough lubrication to achieve total comfort and/or satisfaction. If, however you are like the majority of people, an external lubricant will greatly enhance foreplay and the total sexual experience for both you and your partner.
I have been told that spit is the best lubricant of all?
While many may feel that way, the part of that statement that rings false is bacteria/bacteria/bacteria…. The real answer to your question depends on your immune system, your partner’s health and your tolerance to bacteria. Spit is not a very good lubricant.
It is common knowledge that silicone is used in breast implants, and is dangerous. Is that the case with silicone-based lubricants?
This is a widely-held misconception. In 2006 the FDA aproved the use of silicone based breat implants. The bag that holds saline has always been made of silicone. Of course this approval was predicated on the highest quality pharmaceutical grade silicone being used as the container of the saline. What is little-reported, however, is that high grade silicone is also used for heart valves, catheters, IV tubing, as a cosmetic agent in plastic surgery, in knee and hip replacemts, and a myriad of other body part replacements. Breast implants by themselves represent only a very small percentage of medical applications that employ silicone-based medical technology…

I experience frequent yeast infections, and am leery of using lubricants because of this. Will I experience yeast infections if I use your product?
Yeast infections are caused by a myriad of bacterial sources: hot tubs, sugars, high alkaline male sperm, soap, medications, sometimes oral sex. Anything that has the potential to change your natural pH balance has the potential to foster conditions for a yeast infection to develop. We can only speak of our product, and no other (like condoms or toys). We can assure you, though, that Ultimate Personal Lubricant is made with only the highest grade, pharmaceutical quality silicone, is hypo-allergenic, is chemically inert, will NOT alter your pH balance, and contains no dyes, parabens, or allergens.
